Reactant Free Gold NanoUrchins

Compared to spherical gold nanoparticles with the same core diameter, Gold Nanourchins have unique optical properties. The spiky uneven surface causes a red shift in the surface plasmon peak and greater enhancement of the electromagnetic field at the tips of Gold NanoUrchin spikes compared to spherical particles.

Reactant-free Gold NanoUrchins are supplied in 0.1mM phosphate-buffered saline (PBS). They are extensively purified to be 99% free of residual reactants from manufacturing. These particles have the same high protein binding efficiency as our standard gold nanoparticle formulations for use in applications such as conjugate development, lateral flow, and surface-enhanced Raman spectroscopy (SERS). They have the added benefit of being reactant-free for more sensitive applications such as cell work and nanotoxicology studies.

Intended use: Our extensively purified reactant-free Gold NanoUrchins are ideal for sensitive applications requiring a minimum amount of contaminating reactant remnants from the manufacturing process. This product is well suited for conjugate development by passive adsorption of proteins and other ligands to the gold nanoparticle surface. The resulting conjugate can be used in blotting, electron microscopy, and immunohistochemistry applications.

Properties

Cytodiagnostics Gold NanoUrchins are unique spherical gold nanoparticles with spiky protrusions, which result in absorption of light in the far-red. They are made using a unique proprietary protocol resulting in pure, reactant-free particles with excellent size distribution.

Our Gold NanoUrchins have a narrow size distribution (CV of less than 8%) and exceptional protein adsorption properties. In addition, low batch-to-batch variability (+/- 2nm) assures you as a customer always end up with a product within the specified size range ordered.

All of our batches go through stringent quality control prior to shipment to our customers using dynamic light scattering to guarantee size and monodispersity and lot specifications are supplied with each product.

Storage

Store product away from direct sunlight at 4-25°C. Lower temperature prolongs the shelf life of the product.

Do NOT freeze. Freezing causes irreversible aggregation of the Gold NanoUrchins.

When stored as specified the product is stable for at least six months.
